RRB JE is placed at Pay Level 6 under 7th Pay Commission:

• Junior Engineer (Level 6, ₹35,400) — entry level
• Senior Section Engineer / SSE (Level 7, ₹44,900) — after departmental exam or MACP
• Junior Engineer Grade II (if applicable) — direct absorption in some departments
• Assistant Divisional Engineer / ADE (Gazetted Class II) — after promotion exam
• Divisional Engineer / DE (Gazetted Class II) — further promotion
• Senior Divisional Engineer / SDE (Gazetted Class I) — top departmental posts
• Many JEs also qualify UPSC ESE (Engineering Services) for faster IAS/IPS-equivalent career growth

• Night Duty Allowance: For construction/maintenance work on night shifts
• Special Duty Allowance: For difficult terrain/postings in J&K, NE states
